The Peace Players of Peace UMC will be performing the musical, Godspell
, on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m., with an additional performance Sunday afternoon on March 29 at 2:00 p.m. Originally created by John-Michael Tebelak, the musical Godspell
was based on improvised reenactments of scenes, primarily from the Book of Matthew, and music from traditional hymns. Stephen Schwartz then rescored Godspell
and opened it Off-Broadway in 1971. Godspell
was designed as a thought provoking examination of a group of everyday people, brought together by a knowledgeable, loving teacher into a community of believers. Discovering their common purpose through stories of joy, love, gratitude, judgment and redemption, the group bonds over shared challenges and obstacles as they begin their faith journey.
Under the directorship of Jackie and Ken Shadrake
will be performed at Peace UMC by a talented cast of musicians, actors and singers. It is one of the great examples of life imitating art that our cast features familiar faces from all of our different ministries and styles of worship. So come learn about living good lives. Come see the formation of a community of believers. Come sing about love! And bring some friends along
– this is a great opportunity to invite folks to Peace! Suggested ticket donations are $10.00 to cover production costs, and our children’s and youth mission teams will be offering concessions at each performance.
