20th Anniversary

Has it really been 20 years? Peace UMC, our church family and friends, will be celebrating two decades of ministry, fellowship, and memories on January 15th 2012. We hope that everyone can join us (current members and friends, founding members and former families, and everyone from the surrounding community). January 15th will be a day of special celebrations, with founding pastor Dr. Bob Bushong (now pastor of Winter Park UMC) preaching and with our former pastors, Dr. Phil Maynard and Rev. Ivan Corbin in attendance as well, along with other former church staff members and familiar faces like Rev. Jim Berlau. It's going to be a homecoming of epic proportions! We will host a celebration luncheon, with a special party tent for the occasion, and the worship services for the day will feature lots of special music, reminiscences and presentations which recount the productive history of this congregation.
And the January 15th bash is just the first weekend in a three-week focus that looks at Peace past, present, and future. On the 22nd of January, our District Superintendent, Dr. Wayne Wiatt will be our guest as we take a look at the way that our congregation is connected to other Methodist congregations in ministry locally, regionally, and around the world. We'll hear a special presentation from Rev. Jose Nieves and the Casa de Paz ministry which Peace helped foster. On January 29th, Pastor Inman and Assistant to the Pastor Eddie Pipkin will guide us for a preview of Peace's future, with exciting new initiatives to begin 2012 and look more closely at the decade to come. Rev. John Tshanz will be our guest preacher! Each of these weeks will be filled with surprises, from performances by our Youth praise band (Rev 3:30) and our awesome children's choirs, to ministry fairs, video presentations, and unique ways to respond and serve during this time of reflection and looking forward with enthusiasm. Be in prayer that God will richly bless of all of these activities, invite your friends (particularly the ones who may have been a part of the life of Peace Church over the past 20 years), and encourage your neighbors to come out and see what God has been doing with this congregation of believers, now moving from our adolescence to a promising adulthood!
