Join our Intercessory Prayer Group
The Intercessory Prayer & Healing Group is a group of people who are exploring the power of God to heal us physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  This group explores current and classic literature on the subject of prayer and healing, while sharing their own struggles and lifting one another and others up in prayer. Members have also visited their prayer seekers at home or in the hospital, and spend time as prayer partners in the prayer tent set up at the annual Hunter's Creek Relay for Life.   Recent book titles explored include Trials of Today, Treasures for Tomorrow by Janet Eckles,  The Healing Light by Agnes Sanford, and The Shack by William P. Young.  The current summer book study is The Power of Divine: A Healer's Guide by Tiffany Snow D.D.  If you’d like to explore prayer more deeply or if you need healing in your life and would like to be a part of a group like this (or simply have them pray for you), contact Wendy Harmon, jchwrh@aol.com or 407-286-1848. This group meets on Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the Choir Room.

♦Do you Knit or Croche?  Join the Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Jean S. Trees Memorial Prayer Shawl Ministry is a new ministry of prayer and love for Peace United Methodist Church.  The ministry has been named in memory of Jean Trees who was the first to make and provide a prayer shawl for this emerging ministry.  She passed away one week after presenting her shawl.

According to Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, the founders of Prayer Shawl Ministries, "the making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice which embodies our thoughts and prayers for the receiver.  It is a gift freely given with no strings attached.  Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.  Putting a price on a shawl defeats the purpose of this ministry."

More information about Prayer Shawl ministries can be found at www.shawlministry.com

At Peace UMC, Rev. Bob Schall is coordinating this ministry and invites anyone who likes to knit or crochet to consider being a part of this prayer ministry.  Prayer shawls are given to people who are ill or hospitalized, suffering chronic conditions, undergoing chemotherapy, or simply in need of comfort and prayer. For more details or instructions, please contact Bob Schall, 407-239-8668 or BHAGWON@EARTHLINK.NET.

Before you begin:
Because this is a spiritual practice, before one begins the knitting or crocheting process, a blessing, prayer or wish can be said, dedicating the work of your hands and the intentions of the receiver.  You may want to light a candle and play soft music to enhance your knitting (crochet) time, remembering that this a prayerful time.  When working in a group, you may want to pass the work-in-progress around the circle, asking each person to add some stitches to the shawl, or to just hold it for a while to add their prayers, energy and good wishes.
