Welcome to the ninth day of the Peace UMC 25th Anniversary Trivia Chase! For our trivia question of the day, take a look at the photo to the left. This photo is of a banner that was made to represent a significant event in the life of Peace UMC. Do you know what that event was and any of the details of that event? Can you tell us more? You may click on the photo to enlarge it. Send your answers to Larry the Lay Leader! (Click)

This photo showcases the banner made (by Janice Adams?) to commemorate the start of our capital campaign designed to raise funds for the building of Peace UMC's first building. The campaign, "God's Promise - Our Willing Response" began in earnest on Saturday, September 25, 1993, with a 12-hour prayer vigil held on the grounds of the future home of Peace UMC. This was followed by a very special banquet held at the Pine Castle Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Please see the other scans for more information.

My question at this point is: To whom do the feet belong, hmmm?

This was an information sheet regarding the "God's Promise - Our Willing Response" captital campaign that was given to members of our congregation as part of the stewardship materials.

This reminder was given to congregants as part of the stewardship campaign to help us confirm the number of people to expect at the church-wide "God's Promise - Our Willing Response" banquet held at the Pine Castle Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Were you at that banquet? Can you tell us more about it? Please send your additional info and comments to Larry the Lay Leader! (Click)

The photo to the left shows a view of the cross erected on the building site in front of the pond as part of the upcoming prayer vigil. As you can see, we were quite isolated at the time. The Greenway was still relatively new! It's such a beautiful photo that I couldn't leave it out of our discussion.

Here is a view of our building site from the air. I have marked where our building will be built with the Flame and Cross. Note that Town Loop Blvd is under construction, as is Hunter's Creek Middle School at the lower left. If I'm not mistaken, Town Center Blvd between Town Loop Blvd and Hunter's Creek Blvd was only a single lane and continued as such until Hunter's Creek Elementary School was built shortly thereafter. Take a look at the Publix Plaza (or whatever it was named at the time). You can see the Publix on the left side and the old KMart on the right - with nothing between. Please let me know if I have all of that straight - it's been a while!

In this last figure we see a scan of some of the activities taking place during the time of the "God's Promise - Our Willing Response" Capital Campaign. Thought you might be interested in seeing this - the quality is somewhat poor, but I think that you will agree that even though a young congregation, we were quite involved!

As always, please send your additional info and comments to Larry the Lay Leader! (Click) This will help us all to know and remember!
