Welcome to the 19th day of the Peace UMC 25th Anniversary Trivia Chase! Take a look at the scan to the left. This is obviously the work of a child, but do you know the circumstances surrounding this artistic work? How about who the artist was, when it was created and for what purpose? Can you tell us more? You may click on the photo to enlarge it. Send your answers to Larry the Lay Leader! (Click)

As you can see, the artist of this drawing was identified as Kelseanne Breder, who at the time was 6 years old. Given that the date was December of 1994, she was responding with the rest of the congregation to the call for funding for our new building, scheduled for groundbreaking that very month, with construction beginning in the new year.

I received a very nice letter from Violet Breder this past Sunday, January 8, 2017. She has been following our Trivia Chase series and was moved to comment on what Peace UMC meant to their family. Many us us remember her and Toby's 4 children running around the portico without shoes or socks on. Reading Violet's letter got me to remembering so many of our youth who grew up at Peace UMC and what fine adults they have become. It truly does take a village, or - more importantly - a church, to raise and nurture children with the love of God, watching them mature into God-loving and worshipping young Christians. How important and central our church is to this process! God be Praised!

Ah, but I wax philosophical and more than a bit nostalgic. Take a look at the scan of her letter and let your heart feel the gratitude of a Christian Mother as she contemplates the growth of her children at Peace UMC.

Here is a scan of a photo that appeared in an edition of a FLUMC Builder's Club Newsletter from, I belive, somewhere in 1994. In it, Pastor Bob Bushong is pictured with Eliza Breder, Kelseanne Breder, Riley Hitchcock and Preston Breder.

In this last figure we see a display of favorite family ornaments of the Breder Family, which just starts to show the impact that Peace UMC has had on this family.

And this is just one of our families! Consider that Peace UMC has had a massive impact on all of our families. How blessed we are for this outpouring of God's love to our families throughout the years of Peace UMC! How grateful we are for our church family and our continued positive impacts on one another! Truly, we are a congregation of Hope, Peace, Love and Community, connected together by our faith and love of God. Surely Jesus has been with us through the years as the Holy Spirit dwelt with us at Peace United Methodist Church. And thus it shall remain as we move into the future!

As always, please send your additional info and comments to Larry the Lay Leader! (Click) This will help us all to know and remember!

Not sure of the circumstances, but I believe it is signed by the artist, Kelseanne Breder!
