What We Believe

Peace exteriorPeace United Methodist Church is a community of people who claim that God is love, expressed uniquely in the life, teachings, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our faith is grounded in the Bible's witness, especially as conveyed by Jesus in the "Great Commandment" (Love God and love your neighbor...Matthew 22:36-40) and the "Great Commission" (Go into all the world and make disciples...and I am with you...Matthew 28:19-20).

The Methodist movement of the Christian tradition began in England in the 18th century, with brothers John and Charles Wesley. They lived and taught a balance of personal faith (piety) and caring for the people in our local and global community (social holiness). The Wesleys believed that God's love and grace are available to ALL people, and so do we! Open Hearts...Open Minds...Open Doors...no mere slogan for us; it is our passion and way of living.

At Peace we affirm the doctrines of the United Methodist Church. We believe that the salvation offered through Christ is not just personal, but universal. We believe that the purpose of the church is to develop disciples for Jesus Christ and then send them out to be a light to the world. We practice a living faith that focuses on passionate worship, spiritual growth, faithful community, and salty service. We believe in the authority of scripture and the power of prayer.
